Pandey was also missing in the Kolkata Knight Riders' team on Wednesday in the rain-hit Eliminator of the Indian Premier League against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

India's middle order batsman Manish Pandey has been ruled out of ICC Champions Trophy 2017 due to a side strain and will be replaced in the squad by wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik.

Seasoned wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik was called as a replacement for the injured Pandey.

In the IPL, Karthik was Gujarat Lions' second-highest run-getter with 361 at a strike rate of 139.38.

Having played 23 Tests and 71 ODIs for India, Karthik pipped another glovesman Rishabh Pant, who was also a part of the reserves.
