Dangal moves from Chandni Chowk to China

Dangal becomes the 2nd movie viewed film in China on first day

The movie was released in over 9,000 screens across the country on May 5 and received a fantabulous response everywhere. The report says that China's biggest multiplex chain Wanda Cinemas is not screening the film in most of its theatres.

Aamir Khan-starer Dangal jumped the queue to become the second most viewed movie in China on the first day of his release on Friday. Last week, Aamir Khan had visited China and interacted with the fans there for the film's promotion. Dangal has shattered PK's opening day record by a big margin which opened to 5.7 crores back in 2015. The movie also grabbed 11 percent of the total market takings across cinema halls in China today. "I have never written a review for any movie before, it was so touching, I was laughing and crying at the same time". This has deprived audiences in smaller Chinese towns, where Wanda screens dominate, from watching the Indian movie. Aamir spent a week in China in April promoting the film, travelling to Beijing, Shanghai and Chengdu.

Aamir Khan's Dangal holds the record of being the highest grossing Indian movie in China.

Also recently, China has increased the quota of Indian films to be screened from two to four as two joint productions, Kung Fu Yoga and Buddies In India fared well notching up good box office collection during the on-going Chinese New Year. Another stumbling block for Indian films is the limitation in foreign film releases, restricted to 34 a year. They are expecting it to cross 150 crores in China. If the movie manages to earn 258 crores then it will become the first Bollywood movie to gross 1000 crores worldwide. The actor's other two blockbuster films 3 Idiots and PK have also done a roaring business in China before and he is one of the most popular Bollywood actors in China. Dangal certainly has a chance as it is off to a superb start.
