Oklahoma City Thunder Lose Despite Record-Setting Night by Russell Westbrook

Among his 42 triple-doubles, Westbrook notched up the highest-scoring triple-double ever (57 points-11 assists-13 rebounds against Orlando Magic). Back in the 1961-62 season, Robertson, while setting the National Basketball Association record of 41 triple doubles, finished third in the MVP voting to Bill Russell of the Boston Celtics.

The Rockets' run forced Westbrook back into the game without his customary rest to start the fourth quarter as the Thunder simply couldn't do without him on the floor.

The Houston Rockets once again were ready to take center stage in H-Town sports once again as they resumed their first-round playoff series against the Oklahoma City Thunder tonight.

The Rockets benefited from a balanced scoring attack, with Lou Williams adding 21, Gordon scoring 22 off the bench and game one star Beverley chipping in 15. Dwight Howard had only seven rebounds, half his Game 1 total, and scored six points.

"I don't give a (expletive) about the line", he said before glaring at reporters. The Oklahoma City Thunder are allowing 33.9 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 44.5 rebounds per game. He had 22 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists.

Stealing a win on the road would have been huge, but if the Thunder can take their positives from game two and build on them, I would not be surprised if the Thunder even up the series in OKC.

Taj Gibson and Steven Adams are managed well for his team, OKC Thunder in the first game against Rockets. He followed up game 1 with a 12-8 to go with 2 steals and 3 blocks, plus another masterful defensive display on how to slow down an elite offensive player in Harden.

Those things resulted in the Thunder falling to 4-2 when Westbrook gets a triple-double in the postseason. He finished the night with a staggeringly distressed triple-double of 51-13-10 and 4 steals, but took 43 shots to get there.

Game one was tied headed to the fourth quarter, but the Warriors used their superior depth to outlast the Blazers in a 121-109 win. "You've got to play very consistently offensively and defensively, and you'll have a chance". Oklahoma City bounced back in Game 2.

Eric Gordon gave the Rockets their first lead of the night by draining a three-pointer with 8:08 remaining in regulation. The Grizzlies did wake up and played hard in the second half and cut the lead to four points late in the third quarter.

Victor Oladipo struggled with his shot, too, to the tune of 1-for-12 for 6 points. The Rockets have won four straight meetings with the Thunder and they have covered in nine of their last 10 against OKC.

The Houston Rockets narrowed the margin in the second quarter but Oklahoma City still held a 68-62 lead at halftime. Harden had 35 points and eight assists and was 18 for 20 from the free-throw line. He looked like he was on track to turn in one of his best performances of 2016-17 - the type of game he surely would have reserved for the regular season if he was anxious about votes.

In the third quarter, the Rockets continued to chip away at the Thunder lead and only trailed by three entering the fourth quarter. "We have to come out and match their effort".

NOTES: Thunder coach Billy Donovan tweaked his rotation to include F Doug McDermott who, after not playing in the first half of Game 1, scored eight second-quarter points to help keep the second unit afloat.
