Three-run blast by Pujols helps Angels over Astros, 5-2

The Los Angeles Angels never lost faith in a lineup featuring Mike Trout and Albert Pujols. Correa did take batting practice and fielded ground balls before Wednesday's game. In 10 innings of work, he's allowed eight earned runs while striking out six and walking four. "I thought we battled him", Angels manager Mike Scioscia said of Keuchel. "I think we're getting exactly what you'd expect", Houston manager A.J. Hinch said. "But the sooner the better". This would be accomplished via game-tying double in the fifth, right before Pujols hit that gnarly go-ahead jack.

Tuesday: Trout went 1 for 3 with a double, an RBI, a run scored, a walk and a strikeout in the Angels' 5-2 win over the Houston Astros. It helped me when I was behind in the count and it helped me to put away those guys. "I'm glad we came out with a win". With how badly the Angels offense is sputtering, I have to side with Houston, and I'll be taking the Astros on the run line to get some extra value because I don't see this one being close.

Starter JC Ramirez settled in for the Angels (7-9) after the first, and he hung with the 2015 American League Cy Young victor for a few innings.

George Springer hit his AL-leading seventh home run for the Astros, whose five-game winning streak was snapped.

Jesse Chavez pitched well but didn't receive any offensive support from his Los Angeles Angels teammates on April 17.

Keuchel Wednesday, raised his 0.86 era a whole tenth of a point to a microscopic 0.96, after pitching seven innings of one-run ball. Cam Bedrosian got the last six outs for his third save. "Just a few mistakes and a couple balls they took advantage of".

Keuchel has also gotten back to using his changeup more, which gives him a fourth pitch to pair with his fastball, slider and cutter.

The lone run surrendered by Keuchel came off an RBI single from Yunel Escobar into left field in the third inning, scoring Danny Espinosa. He was followed by Bud Norris who pitched a scoreless 7th inning.

Astros: SS Carlos Correa missed his second straight game because of soreness in his right hand after he was plunked on Saturday.

Alex Bregman was inserted into the lineup at shortstop in place of Correa, who is considered day to day. "It's early in the season so I don't want to be playing out there hurting right now", he said.

Marte is naturally an infielder, but previous year the Angels experimented and he played 27 games in left.

Before the game, the Angels acquired C Juan Graterol from Toronto for a player to be named or cash. The right-hander improved from his first career start Friday against Kansas City where he was tagged for five runs in five innings.

Will Dallas Keuchel lead the Astros to another victory over the Angels tonight at 8:10PM ET?
