Star QB Tom Brady to miss NFL champs' visit to White House

The mother-of-two's criticism comes on the same day her National Football League husband Tom Brady skipped a visit to the White House with his New England Patriot's teammates.

Guards found the 27-year-old Hernandez hanging from a bedsheet in his cell Wednesday morning at the Souza-Baranowski Correctional Center in Shirley, Massachusetts, where he was serving a life sentence for a murder conviction.

The team invited 68 players - including all 53 players on the active roster at the end of the season, practice-squad members and those on injured reserve - and exactly half showed up to celebrate the team's Super Bowl victory with president Donald Trump.

Stop me if you've heard this one before: The media reported that President Donald Trump drew a smaller crowd than his predecessor, and Trump's team flipped out.

After the triumphant victory, tight end Martellus Bennett quickly made it clear he was not coming to the White House and other teammates followed.

McCourty also told Time in February that he didn't "feel accepted" at the nation's capital.

Branch is among numerous Patriots players who opted out of the visit for various personal and political reasons. He had a personal family matter to attend to, he told ESPN's Mike Reiss.

"The confetti hadn't hit the ground after the game before people asked the players if they'd be attending the White House", he said. Trump claimed to have Brady's support, and Brady was found to have a red "Make America Great Again" hat in his locker. During that ceremony, President Barack Obama noted Brady's absence during his opening remarks, acknowledging that a prior family commitment kept him away. Several other players boycotted the celebration, saying they don't feel comfortable at the White House so long as Trump is president. That includes Brady in 2015.

The Patriots wrote in the tweet: "Comparable photos: The last time the #Patriots won two Super Bowls in three years, 36 players visited the White House".

Brady said Wednesday he was "so happy and excited" that the Patriots were being honored at the White House - an event typically held for the winning Super Bowl team.

The president has a close friendship both team owner Robert Kraft and Belichick, referencing a letter of encouragement the coach wrote him before a crucial primary contest previous year.

Disclosures filed with the Federal Election Commission on Tuesday showed that the Patriots' owner, Robert Kraft, contributed $1 million to Trump's inauguration festivities.
