Sizzling Isco looks for chance to lead Madrid to glory

Ahead of another Champions League salvage mission there is no room for error for Barcelona as they try to chase down Real Madrid at the top of La Liga

Isco had met the young girl earlier in the week during a player meet and greet session, during which she had shown her idol how to say a very important message using sign language.

The lead lasted just three minutes as Real responded with a wonder goal of their own.

Much like Manchester United has gotten accustomed to Fergie-time - the ability of the team to mount comebacks late into the game, Real Madrid seem to be developing a similar taste for late comebacks under Zinedine Zidane.

Isco scored a stoppage-time victor as Real Madrid twice came from behind to win 3-2 at Sporting Gijon. When we need everyone, they're there.

Despite Messi's magic, Barca scrapped past Real Sociedad 3-2 on Saturday bringing the total number of goals they have conceded to seven in the past week alone. He has the personality to do what he has done today and is a great player; I am happy with his game and also with the performance of the whole team.

"It's hard, there isn't time to rest, but we have been working very well and we're good physically".

The decision comes with Madrid facing crucial matches against Bayern Munich and Barcelona in the week following the Sporting clash. "I don't like to see my players injured and even more so in the final straight of the season". He finished the game without a yellow card that would prohibit him play El Clásico next weekend.

The 24-year-old's future is uncertain despite a match winning performance against Sporting Gijon which saw him net a stunning solo effort as well as the vital late victor, as Madrid snuck over the line with a 3-2 win.

Isco's match-winning goal, a stunning 90th minute effort, saw him work an inch of space on the edge of the area before lashing a right-footed effort into the bottom corner, leaving Sporting goalkeeper Ivan Cuellar helpless.

Sporting opened the scoring in the 14th minute when Mikel Vesga scooped a pass over Madrid's defence which Duje Cop slammed home, before Isco equalised three minutes later with a brilliant individual goal.

Madrid survived an almighty scare in its 3-2 victory at Sporting on Saturday, overturning a 2-1 deficit as Isco struck the victor with eight seconds of regulation time remaining. "I want to stay a long time, many years, and I hope I do".

Zidane said it was Isco's best match with Madrid, adding "you have to have character to do what he did".

Saturday kicks off with Deportivo la Coruna desperate for a win at home against a Malaga side that has climbed away from the relegation zone, thanks to consecutive wins, reports Xinhua news agency.
