One SC family visited by the Easter Gator

Family awakens to 9-foot alligator on porch

A slumbering family were given the shock of their lives when they discovered a three-metre alligator had managed to climb onto the second floor porch of their SC home.

Susie and Steve Polston - along with their 16-year-old son - cowered in the master bedroom as the terrifying beast prowled around in their home in South Carolina, US.

Definitely not the Easter Bunny.

At first they thought it was someone trying to break-in to their home, but then soon found a 9-foot, 300-pound gator had climbed onto their porch.

It climbed a 15-foot staircase, breaking a screen, walking through a doorway and onto their second-story porch. Polston suspects the animal lived in a pond at a nearby golf course, but told the Post and Courier she had never seen an alligator get past the fencing surrounding the course.

Ronnie Russell of Gator Getter Consultants showed up to remove the alligator, and after spending two hours on the scene attempting to remove the reptile, it became apparent that this job wouldn't go as planned.

A contractor with the Department of Natural Resources was called to help point the alligator back to the wild from which he came. The enormous creature seemed to enjoy his stay and was "perfectly happy" according to the family. They tend to get territorial when anything blocks their yearly feeding path.
