McDonald's order trips up Facebook slaying suspect

Only Steve Knows: Police Baffled by Facebook Video Killing

Tom Ducharme, owner of the restaurant near Erie, told CNN that Stephens drove up, placed an order and paid an employee, who recognized him and called police.

Acting on the tip, police arrived at the Erie McDonald's and spotted Stephens leaving the fast-food restaurant.

Stephens killed himself in Pennsylvania on Tuesday as he was being chased by state troopers.

"As the officers approached that vehicle Steve Stephens took his own life", Williams said.

Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg briefly responded to the Facebook murder video on Tuesday, following the death of the man who posted the disturbing footage.

Authorities say they pursued Stephens for about two miles and attempted to disable his vehicle using a PIT maneuver.

The shooting video was visible on Facebook for almost two hours before it was reported, the company said.

The shooting marked the latest video clip of a violent crime to turn up on Facebook, raising questions about how the world's biggest social media network moderates content.

He then tried to buy some time for police by telling Stephens his fries "were going to be a minute".

WICU reports that Stephens went to a McDonald's drive-thru and ordered chicken nuggets and french fries.

Investigators said that Mr Godwin was the only victim so far linked to Stephens, despite his claim on Facebook that he killed more than a dozen people.

Godwin-Baines expressed empathy not just for Lane, but for Stephens' mother, too, when she spoke with Cooper.

Within a day, authorities expanded the search nationwide and offered a 50,000 dollar (£39,000) reward for information leading to his capture.

Speaking at an annual Facebook software conference, Zuckerberg also expressed condolences for Godwin's family and friends.

Cleveland police are saying the video never should have been shared. "I truly can say I don't even feel any animosity against the guy that killed my father", she said.
