The Hughestown Lions Club held its annual Easter Egg Hunt Saturday, April 15. Thirty years ago, Joyce Anderson Ferguson was attending one of the egg hunts, when she noticed something that sparked an idea.

More than 1,500 eggs with prizes were placed throughout Forest Road Park for children of all ages to collect.

The Ng family - mum Min Yun, 37, carrying Max, two, dad Jeffrey, 39, Luther, four, and Kyra, seven - celebrated Easter Sunday with an egg hunt at Jurong Bird Park's Waterfall Aviary, home to over 600 free-flying birds. The Easter Bunny was also on hand to greet those in attendance. The woman says eggs were removed from her children's bags. The organizer finished by saying that it was part of the condition of entry and that they could not control people since they just went insane when they saw the eggs.

The egg hunt was finished in seven minutes.

Jessica and Bobbie Evans of Walt Bannon Drilling, co-chaired the event with the help of volunteers including Mikaelle Trayer, Kristina Tracy, Jennifer Michel, Anne Driscoll and Kristin Bateman. "I think it's wonderful when we all come together for the community and our kids - and especially when it's free", she said, noting the Firemates and all who helped with this year's event will be looking forward to doing it again in 2018.

"We wanted to do something for the kids".
