Pence spoke in Tokyo to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Japan Wedneaday. He again reiterated that with the Trump administration, "the era of strategic patience is over".

On Tuesday the U.S. and Japan kicked off talks aimed at achieving a new economic relationship - in line with Trump's vow to focus on bilateral trade deals rather than multilateral ones that he says have damaged the US.

Pence was joined by U.S. Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross, Toyota President Akio Toyoda and executives from General Motors, 3M and Aflac.

Speaking aboard the USS Ronald Reagan at the Yokosuka Naval Base in Japan Wednesday, Pence reiterated the USA and its allies were prepared to respond to potential North Korean attack with "overwhelming" force.

"America has played a certain role in Asia since 1945. that role has in the end of the day been a stabilizer", Delury said.

No nations were more successful at this than South Korea and Japan. And now that North Korea has declared its goal to be building missiles with nuclear warheads that could hit all USA bases in Asia - and even California - the clock is running for the White House.
