Grieving Isaiah Thomas to play Game 2, then fly to funeral

Jimmy Butler comes up big for the Chicago Bulls, scoring 22 points along with Rajon Rondo being one rebound shy of a triple-double in their 111-97 win over the Boston Celtics. The ex-Celtic turned on the tables on his former team, racking up a truly-impactful 11 points, 9 rebounds, 14 assists and 5 steals over 40 minutes.

The Celtics were outhustled in the offensive glass in both games, and fell behind by double digits early in Game 2.

In Washington, John Wall had 32 points and 14 assists as the Washington Wizards controlled the second half against the Atlanta Hawks for a 114-107 win on Sunday, to take the lead in the best-of-seven first- round Eastern Conference series.

For the Celtics, Isaiah Thomas was the team's top scorer with 20 points, while Marcus Smart (13 points, 8 rebounds) kept the team in the game with some gritty offensive and defensive plays.

Celtics guard Isaiah Thomas, still reeling from the death of his sister, Chyna, in a road accident over the weekend, had a quiet night.

"They haven't finalized the memorial service plans or funeral plans", Celtics coach Brad Stevens said at practice Monday.

The Bulls used several quick spurts to control this game, the last one a 10-0 burst to build a 19-point lead in the fourth quarter.

Milwaukee will still fancy their chances heading back to Wisconsin for Games' 3 and 4 though, as their length again caused match-up problems for Dwane Casey's team. Not saying it won't be hard moving forward, but now that the team has had a few days to recuperate from this devastating news of Thomas' sister, they should do a better job rallying around him in these games.

Giannis Antetokounmpo had 24 points and 15 rebounds for the Bucks. Khris Middleton scored 20 points and Greg Monroe had 18. Chicago was also a beast off the boards, out-rebounding the Celtics, 53-36.

"We know we can go to him and ask anything". I think he took a lot of pride in that role to be the leader of that young group. The Celtics are a deep team but Thomas' offense has been key for them and playing without him would certainly put Boston at a disadvantage.

"Everybody's putting in each work, watching film, working on their game", Butler said.

Tuesday night, Dwyane Wade and Jimmy Butler rode on the first bus.

Milwaukee are one of the youngest teams in the National Basketball Association and their rising stars had an off night in Toronto.

Toronto went 5 for 23 from behind the 3-point line in Game 1, but almost tripled its output in Game 2, finishing 14 for 29.
