Pressure on Slaven Bilic eased as West Ham end losing run

Slaven Bilic is relieved that his West Ham side appear to have pulled clear of the Premier League relegation scrap with a 1-0 win over third-bottom Swansea City.

Swansea substitute Luciano Narsingh came closest to an equaliser for the visitors but his powerful strike went just over.

The Hammers are 14th with six games remaining and Noble thinks one more win should secure their top-flight status.

Cheikhou Kouyate says he has never been under so much pressure as he has in West Ham's battle for survival.

It was a awful game but Slaven Bilic and his side will not care, those three points are massive. Calleri came on and did really good.

As the Swans defence backed off, Kouyate was given the space to drill home a handsome strike, the lead deserved after Swans goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski had earlier denied Michail Antonio and Robert Snodgrass.

So the relief was palpable at the final whistle as West Ham finally celebrated a victory, and one which could be vital for Bilic.

Antonio, the club's leading scorer, lasted only 40 minutes when he sustained a hamstring injury subsequently pouring doubt over his future availability. "We're in the bottom three and there are seven games to go, and West Ham [Swansea's next opponents] are a team who've had their own troubles recently so we have to go there believing we can get a result".

Swansea nearly took advantage when a cross from Jordan Ayew, Andre's brother, just evaded Gylfi Sigurdsson at the far post.

The Hammers struggled to take advantage of a poor Swansea performance but Kouyate's first league goal of the season eased the hosts' worries on the stroke of half-time.

Swansea's 4-1 win in May 2016 over the Hammers ended a run of 12 away games in all competitions without a victory against them (D2 L10).

Kouyate scored the all-important victor just a minute before half-time, but the Swans looked nothing like the side under Clement that won a few games to get themselves out of the bottom three earlier in the year.

In his last six Premier League games against the Swans, Andy Carroll has scored five times and assisted another three goals.
