PM degree row: 'Why so secretive Modi Ji', asks Congress

In yet another legal trouble for Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener Arvind Kejriwal, a bailable arrest warrant has been issued against him over his defamatory tweet against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, media reports said on Tuesday.

The magistrate had issued summons against the Delhi chief minister to appear in his court on 30 January last. The case in the first place was filed by BJP leader Surya Rongphar against Kejriwal a year ago in December for passing defamation comments on Narendra Modi.

Last year, Arvind Kejriwal tweeted that "Modiji 12 pass hain, Uske baad ki degree farzi hai".

On December 15, 2016, Kejriwal had said that PM Modi has studied upto class 12and rest of his degrees are fake.

The Court order read, "On perusal of the record, it reveals that the accused has not appeared before this court on the earlier occasion on 30/1/2017 too, availing adjournment of more than two months".

The Delhi Chief Minister has always been raising suspicions over Modi's educational qualifications and demanded that all the Prime Minister's college and university certificates be made public.

Justice Naba Kumar Deka Barua issued the bailable warrant of Rs 10,000. "The next date for appearance is fixed on May 8, 2017", it added.

Kejriwal has alleged that Modi has submitted wrong information about his education.

Singh on Tuesday took to his Twitter handle and asked if it's a crime for asking about the educational background of the prime minister. Interestingly, Delhi Chief Minister is also facing a defamation case filed by Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in the Delhi & District Cricket association matter.
