It also comes after the 30-year-old running back was seen at TD Garden Wednesday night embracing New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft.

"I know LeGarrette Blount would like to return to the Patriots", Rapoport said.

It is widely expected that the New England Patriots running back position will be highly competitive and contested. He carried the ball 299 times for 1,161 yards and led the league in rushing touchdowns with 18. They can also find a complimentary running back in the upcoming National Football League draft. Unfortunately, his free agency experience has not given him much leverage against the Patriots as no other team has shown extreme interest. Blount, on the other hand, was relied upon heavily past year as Tom Brady's aggressive downfield offensive schemes frequently targeted wide receivers Julian Edelman, Chris Hogan and Malcolm Mitchell and resulted in multiple trips to the redbone and goal line. Blount has spent the 2013 season, and half of the 2014 all the way to 2016 seasons with the Patriots and there's mutual interest in his return to the team.

If Blount does agree to New England's terms, he would join Brandon Bolden, Dion Lewis, James White, and Rex Burkhead as the current true running back's on their 90-man roster.

There are also still a number of Adrian Peterson-New Orleans Saints rumors floating around, as the two sides are set up for a negotiation session next week. Reports surfaced that the defending Super Bowl champions plan to bring back LeGarrette Blount, a key player in their title run last season. Join the Chowder and Champions team!
