Charlize Theron kicks so many asses in new trailer for Atomic Blonde

Charlize Theron and Sophie Boutella in Atomic Blonde

The first trailer established that Theron can hold her own against even the most unforgiving of action sequences.

If Charlize Theron's current goal is to firmly establish herself in the action movie pantheon, she's doing one helluva job.

The newest teaser is full of nonstop colors, pulsing music, and Theron beating everyone to a pulp.

Theron beating somebody up with a stiletto is sure to be a signature moment from this movie, perhaps inspiring several with high-heeled shoes to take out their wrath or frustration on someone annoying or threatening (in which case that shoe is key for protection). The story follows a top MI6 spy, Lorraine Broughton, who has been sent to Berlin to wipe out a brutal espionage ring that murdered an undercover agent, with whom she had a romantic past.

But that is just the opening of the red band trailer. The film is based on the Oni Press graphic novel series "The Coldest City", by Antony Johnston & illustrator Sam Hart. Considering that she practically stole Mad Max: Fury Road with her performance as Furiosa, a change of tone and scenery should be nothing for the actor.

"Atomic Blonde" was produced by Charlize Theron, Beth Kono, A.J. Dix, Kelly McCormick, Eric Gitter and Peter Schwerin, with Nick Meyer, Marc Schaberg, Joe Nozemack, Steven V. Scavelli, Ethan Smith, David Guillod and Kurt Johnstad serving as executive producers.

Atomic Blonde smashes into theaters on July 28th. Broughton is linked up begrudgingly with the Berlin station chief, David Percival (played by the delightful James McAvoy) and the two get some serious spy action in during their joint attempt to locate a threat that could destroy the West's complete intelligence operation.

Atomic Blonde is directed by the same guy who did John Wick and Deadpool 2.
