West Ham need belief to return to winning ways, states Arthur Masuaku

Craig Shakespeare insisted he has no secret formula despite guiding Leicester to a fourth straight win.

The English Premier League champions on Saturday secured their first away win of the season in the 3-2 defeat of West Ham United at the Olympic Stadium.

Shakespeare doesn't expect a hangover from the Champions League celebrations.

"To be 2-0 down after seven minutes of any football match, be it in the Premier League or in your local Sunday League, makes it very hard to get a positive result".

"It's something we've done all season - once we go ahead, we don't tend to lose games".

"We knew we were coming here on the back of an terrible away record and we wanted to put it right".

"We didn't play our level in the first half", the defender admitted to the club's website.

"We have to give West Ham credit".

Not that the change unsettled Leicester in any way as the champions motored into a two-goal lead within seven minutes.

Robert Huth made it 2-0 when left totally unmarked to head home Marc Albrighton's cross.

Manuel Lanzini put the hosts back in contention with a sublime free-kick on 20 minutes, only for Jamie Vardy to restore his side's two-goal advantage before the break.

The Hammers continued to knock at the door, but missed opportunities by Ayew and strike partner Andy Carroll kept the Foxes in front to the end. They threw everything at us in the second half and Kasper had to make some special saves again.

"I think he is in the best form I have seen since I have been here. He's pulled out some crucial saves over the last couple of weeks".

"We are very disappointed", he said.

"We knew they had momentum, we knew they are a good side who have underachieved this season, but they scored three goals in the first half and it wasn't from chances they created".

"We conceded really sloppy goals from our part and when we came back, to concede another from a set-piece, it is very hard psychologically to come back into the game".

"The second half was our best performance this season, but the ball just didn't want to go in. Overall, I'm trying to be objective, but if you watched the whole ninety minutes, we deserved something from the game".
