Friday was a big day for Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine students, as they achieved a 100-percent residency match placement. "And I'm inspired by these students each and every day-it's one of the reasons I really enjoy coming into work every day".

Former FSU football All-American and Rhodes Scholar Myron Rolle matched in the Harvard Medical School neurosurgery program at Massachusetts General Hospital. Match results are released nationally by the National Resident Matching Program and announced at ceremonies coordinated to occur each year on the same date, according to a Banner-UMC release.

Baton Rouge General's Internal Medicine Residency Program will welcome 10 new residents while eight will join the hospital's Family Medicine Residency Program. He also said he is proud of all of his students.

"I'm just very grateful and fortunate that America had open arms for the Afghan refugees after the Soviet invasion", Chopan said. "We are pleased that eight of our graduates matched in residency programs that we've started in the past six years".

"It seems likely that residency program directors will be reluctant to rank J-1 visa applicants because they may not be able to enter the country to begin training", she said. The National Resident Matching Program uses an algorithm to match students with resident programs, taking into account the institutions' and students' top choices.

The medical school at the university opened in 2013 and will feature its first graduating class this May.
