Mark Hamill Shares First Ever Luke Skywalker Photo from Star Wars Set

Until then, star Mark Hamill chose to dial things straight back to Luke's humble beginnings, and specifically the actor's first day on set for the filming of 1977's Star Wars: A New Hope.

There are few mediums the Star Wars saga has yet to dominate, and it all began almost 40 years ago. Answering a fan's question about whether or not he was happy to be out there, since he does look sort of winded, Hamill said he was feeling a mixture of excitement over what could be (and was) his big break, and exhaustion over how early and dusty it was. The teaser photo of Star Wars Episode 8: The Last Jedi was released online on January 23.

Thanks to the obsessive reporting around the franchise, we can also fill in a little more history surrounding this photo.

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, and Harrison Ford began filming George Lucas' Star Wars saga in the late 70s. Some fans are convinced that she is Luke Skywalker's daughter however, some believe Skywalker may be is related to Rey in a different way.

Whether this is, in fact, the very first photo remains somewhat unclear.

Is all this enough to stop us going after "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" spoilers? No.

Hamill is now preparing for his debut as an older Skywalker in Star Wars: The Last Jedi following an earlier cameo in The Force Awakens. Nothing screams an ending like someone waxing poetic about a beginning.
