Ridley Scott Says ALIEN: AWAKENING Is Up Next

Well, while "Alien: Covenant" is essentially acting as a sequel to "Prometheus", it looks as though "Alien: Awakening" - the until-now-unannounced "Alien" movie - will slot inbetween them.

In a recent interview with Fandango, Scott spoke more about the aforementioned project and provided us with a somewhat muddled description for it. "There will be another one before we kind of literally and logically, clockwise, back into the rear back head of [the original] Alien." .

If that is the case, by the time Scott is done with the franchise, we really will know everything about the genesis of this now very, very long-running cinematic universe. Scott also ambitiously stated that the series could extend to four films, confirming that,"there will be more after this". However, he went on to add, "If [Covenant] is successful, and then the next one, and then there will definitely be three more".

Prometheus stars Michael Fassbender and Noomi Rapace return alongside new cast additions Katherine Waterston (Inherent Vice), Danny McBride (Eastbound & Down), Demian Bichir (A Better Life), Billy Crudup (Watchmen), Jussie Smollett (Empire), Carmen Ejogo (Selma), Amy Seimetz (Upstream Color), Benjamin Rigby (That's Not Me), Callie Hernandez (Machete Kills) and James Franco (Why Him?). Yet, with the Alien: Covenant release on the horizon, Scott has definitely changed his tune. He mentions Prometheus from a few years ago, along with Covenant, and then something we hadn't heard about before. That's one more movie than initially planned when Scott first set out to make this sequel.

Alien: Covenant slithers into theaters on May 19th. Maybe he has a story that he could tell in four movies if there's a demand for them.

It's official - there's already another "Alien" film in the works.

It also begs the question - will one of these end up being Neill Blomkamp's Alien flick? Scott says there "will be another one before" linking back up with Alien.
