Nintendo Switch Restock Coming To GameStop Next Week

All signs so far suggest the Nintendo Switch launch has been a success, although nothing yet on the scale of the Wii.

Additionally, as New York Magazine reminds us, it still takes time to get production up and running for a console, especially to the tune of 8-16 million units.

Beginning March 22, customers can purchase the console which GameStop has touted as one of its biggest launches in the last several years.

"GameStop continues to see strong demand from customers who are looking to purchase the Nintendo Switch system", said Eric Bright, GameStop's senior director of merchandising.

So are you excited for the Nintendo Switch restock? "The customer enthusiasm and response we have seen so far has been incredible as we continue to sell through our supply of systems".

Nintendo will double production of Switch units at the start of its fiscal year on April 1, per a new report.

Of course, that doesn't mean they'll sell that many, but considering how conservative Nintendo usually is about this sort of thing it's a surprising show of confidence.

It's too early to say whether or not Nintendo has bounced back from the failure that was the Wii U. Sings are good though, with the Switch selling well and generally being more well recognized outside of hardcore gamer circles. Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime said that early sales of the devices were the fastest (in America) of any console Nintendo has ever launched - even outselling the Wii. The spokesperson added, "GameStop recommends that customers should call their nearest store location for availability details".

Starting next week, you may want to check with your local GameStop. You will have to go to an actual brick-and-mortar store to purchase one, but it beats buying a Switch from a scalper on Amazon or eBay, or buying an unnecessary bundle full of junk. Hey, we know how you feel.
