Darius Butler #20 of the Indianapolis Colts runs with the ball after intercepting a pass during the National Football League game against the Tennessee Titans at Lucas Oil Stadium on December 9, 2012 in Indianapolis, Indiana. "That's according to CBS Sports" Jason La Canfora, who reports that Butler has another round of visits in free agency but noted that the Colts "want him back.' Butler already visited the Bears last weekend, and La Canfora said that Butler's next round of visits begins with the Redskins..."

"It seems that there's really only one Colts player remaining that the team wants to re-sign still, and that's defensive back Darius Butler". He spent two seasons with the Patriots. He has also played for the Carolina Panthers and New England Patriots in his eight National Football League seasons, recording 15 career interceptions.

Last season, Butler played in 12 games, starting seven of them. His signing will provide veteran leadership and flexibility in the secondary. It expands their options by allowing safety Clayton Geathers to play a part-time linebacker role while also letting second-year safety T.J. Green - who has only played defense since his sophomore season at Clemson - continue his development. He set a career high with four interceptions in his first season with the team, despite only playing in 11 games.

On Friday, the parties agreed to a one-year, $3 million contract that will keep Butler with the franchise he revived his career with in 2012.
