Starbucks just debuted ice cream at 100-plus stores

Affogato is when you pour espresso over ice cream, and it forms a brand new confectionary creation that makes you weak in the knees while simultaneously giving you the energy to stand back up!

The drinks will range in price starting at $6 for the classic affogato to $8.50 for the cold brew malt, which is made with small-lot cold brew, vanilla ice cream and chocolate bitters.

While this menu sounds divine-and expensive for a coffee treat-cheaper alternatives will roll out this week in more than 100 Starbucks locations in Orange County, CA.

Starbucks is now testing a menu of affogato items inspired by the Seattle Roastery location at 100 stores in Orange County, Calif, the Orange County Register reported.

Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz underscored the company's commitment to lure high-end coffee drinkers previous year before announcing he would step down to focus in part on the Reserve brand's luxury coffees. Starbucks is coming out with a new brew option.

The Starbucks Reserve Roastery and Tasting Room in Seattle launched an Affogato menu in June of 2016, with each drink featuring real vanilla ice cream and small-lot roasted espresso; since then, the treats have become popular staples of the Roastery menu.

The new line will be made in collaboration with Mora Iced Creamery, which is known for its richness of flavors and high-quality ingredients.

It's not the first time Starbucks has flirted with ice cream.

Affogato, which means drowned in Italian, is a traditional dessert which sees the ice cream served alongside an espresso shot.
