Project Scorpio Will Be At Microsoft's Newly-timed E3 Conference

Xbox One Down

Like that announcement, today's tweet doesn't offer a heck of a lot in the way of detail, though the image will prove familiar to anyone who watched that event. "We think that the ability to build a library, a community, to be able to iterate with the hardware - we're making a pretty big bet on that with Project Scorpio".

This year's Xbox event is expected to be all about Scorpio, Microsoft's souped-up 4K-capable Xbox One successor set to launch later this year.

You can also expect to hear more about titles like State of Decay 2, Sea of Thieves, Crackdown 3, Forza Motorsport 7 and much more.

Xbox had released its own reduced size replacement, the August 2016 Xbox One S, at an identical price point.

Microsoft has not revealed the price of Project Scorpio, but Spencer hinted of how much it could be. The PS4 Pro delivers dynamic 4K gaming through enhanced resolution techniques. Whatever Microsoft do they'll be aware that this is their best chance to catch up with Sony this generation, and perhaps even overtake them in the U.S. and United Kingdom - where the console race remains very close. Native 4K or just the "True 4K" Microsoft's been touting? There's still plenty of time before the big expo and it's certainly going to be big as this will be the first E3 to be open to the general public.

For now, follow Microsoft's advice.
