Antoine Griezmann addresses transfer rumours

Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann

The usual EnglishPremier League transfer rumour mill has been working hard for the last month and more to link Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann with a summer transfer to Manchester United.

Antoine Griezmann had a fantastic 2016, with his club Atletico Madrid and with the France national team.

United now sit in sixth position in the Premier League table, two points behind the fourth place they would need to reach for a Champions League play-off spot, while they host Saint-Etienne on Thursday in the first leg of their Europa League last-32 tie knowing a triumph in that competition would also see them attain Champions League qualification.

The 25-year-old has lifted the Spanish Super Cup with Atleti but he is hopeful of helping the club to further silverware.

Griezmann added: "On a personal level I'm very happy, and in football terms we're about to move to a new stadium, which is very important".

"Simeone has changed me".

There really was such a thing [an offer of more than €100m for Muller from United]. I think they have a pact or something like that. Real Madrid, that is impossible because of the club I am at [Real's fierce Madrid rivals Atletico].

However, it seems talks of a move away from the Vicente Calderon may be a little premature as the attacker has now revealed that he doesn't have any immediate desire to leave Atletico.

Speaking to French radio station RMC on Tuesday, Griezmann said that, if he were to leave Madrid, he would prefer to stay in Spain.

In a separate interview this week Griezmann admitted he is not yet convinced about making the switch to the Premier League. We don't know how the season will end. "Everything like rain, bad weather I need to feel happy outside". "If it finishes badly, maybe I will ask myself the question, but then where would I go?" he said.

He praised the intensity of the Premier League and how the referees let the game flow more but stated that La Liga was his preferred league.

'Germany, the league does not attract me much.
