Vodafone now offering four times 4G data starting at Rs 250

Vodafone 4G services can be readily accessed from 4G enabled handsets, offered by leading smartphone manufacturers and available across the country. Customers buying the 1GB data pack at Rs 250 will now be getting 4GB of data for 28 days.

The tariff war in the 4G data category began in September past year when Mukesh Ambani-owned Reliance JIo launched its 4G services with unlimited voice and data calls under a trial plan.

Chief secretary Pankaj Kumar and others during the launch of Vodafone SuperNet 4G service in Kohima held on January 17.

1GB 4G data for Rs 150. Vodafone is also offering 6GB data at Rs 350, 9GB data at Rs 450, 13GB data at Rs 650 and 35GB of data at Rs 1,500.

Earlier this month, Vodafone had announced its SuperHour scheme that is offering unlimited 3G or 4G data for one hour at Rs 16 for pre-paid customers. Users can subscribe to data packs at a starting price of INR 8 for 30 MB.

It may be mentioned that the Vodafone SuperNettm 4G services is Kohima, also follows the successful rollout of services in states like Kerala, Karnataka, Kolkatta, New Delhi & NCR, Mumbai, Haryana, UP East, Gujarat, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, UP (W), Punjab, Assam and North East.

Recently Airtel had also announced an offer through which customers could get 12 months of free 4G data if they switched from another operator to Airtel 4G. This free data benefit will be over and above the pack/plan benefits. The benefits can be enjoyed at any hour of day or night, when connected to the Vodafone network. Jio is offering only 10 GB for Rs 999 and 20 GB for Rs 1,500.

Customers will also get 4G global roaming access in 35 countries, including UK, UAE, New Zealand, Turkey, Ireland, Singapore, Albania, Netherlands, Romania, Germany, Greece & Czech Republic, with more countries to be added in the near future.

Shares of telecom companies underperformed in Wednesday's market with Bharti Airtel and Idea Cellular falling 1.2 per cent and 2.4 per cent respectively.
