According to People Magazine, there are some people aboard the long-running show (which has been on the air for more than 50 years!) that there is a good chance that there will not be new episodes on the air in 2018.

Kelly has already changed her Twitter profile to list her new title as a news anchor at NBC News.

The popular newswoman said she is leaving in part because she needs more time for her three children, something the new gig can offer. As such the long running show "Days of Our Lives" may face hard times ahead and be in deep trouble thanks to this development.

"In less than two months Tucker has taken cable news by storm with his spirited interviews and consistently strong performance", Murdoch said in a statement this week. Aside from the net-gain of adding another woman to the anchor desk at NBC News, Kelly's potential daytime slot signals an important symbolic victory in the ongoing struggle to validate the experiences of sexual assault victims.

Soap fans may soon have to bid farewell to yet another long-running daytime drama as a new report has surfaced suggesting that NBC's Days of Our Lives says are officially numbered.

Over on the Fox News Channel, things are a bit clearer. However, insiders claimed that giving Kelly the time slot that belongs to Days Of Our Lives is possible. DAYS has been the only soap on the network since Passions was canceled in 2008. NBC New York reported that a new lineup will go into effect as of January 16, 2017. It isn't necessarily her fault, and it may end up being all for nothing, but if her talk show ends up forcing the cancellation of Days of Our Lives, there will be backlash.

DAYS still has a contract with Sony Pictures Television through early this year and this new revelation puts doubts into whether the contract will be renewed.
