Assimilating Durant into championship mix a work in progress for Warriors

Game-winner Kyrie Irving hit the winning basket again for the Cavs

It was a source of pride for the Raptors that DeRozan - who passed Chris Bosh to become the franchise's all-time leader in points scored Wednesday - didn't even take a meeting with another team before agreeing to a five-year, $139 million deal to remain in Toronto last summer.

The Golden State Warriors have had a great 2016/17 season even by their own standards, but has the acquisition of Kevin Durant really helped the team get better.

Their defense was just as crisp, not allowing any fast-break points or points in the paint. It's the second time he has collected at least five blocks in a game this season.

Anthony Davis's 20 points included a one-handed alley-oop dunk during a pivotal fourth-quarter spurt in New Orleans' 1-2-98 win over the Los Angeles Clippers, while Dennis Schroder had 27 points as Atlanta took advantage of Carmelo Anthony's second-quarter ejection to beat the New York Knicks 102-98 in overtime. Golden State built its lead back out to 17 at halftime thanks to shooting almost 75 percent, but just imagine if the Dubs didn't take 16 less shots due to carelessness (in addition to not taking care of their defensive glass well enough).

They met again in mid-November, the Raptors on the back end of a back-to-back that began the night before in Cleveland against the reigning National Basketball Association champs while the Warriors were in Toronto waiting for their return.

However, Golden State's Curry problem disappeared against Toronto.

The Toronto Raptors hope to regain their winning ways on the road Thursday night when they make the fourth stop on a six-game trip to face the Phoenix Suns. The matchup pits the two best offenses in the league against one another, so expect a fast-paced, high-scoring affair when the two sides meet for the final time this regular season on Wednesday night. Steph Curry stopped the bleeding with two free throws after gathering a Durant three-point miss, before Durant and Draymond Green came up with back-to-back blocks on DeMar Derozan.

In addition to the increased pick-and-roll sets, Steve Kerr brought back the drag play, where Curry scurries around a Green screen and zips into the lane, surrounded by floor spacers. "That's one of our money plays and one of the toughest thing to guard".

Impressive offensive production makes up for 20 Warrior turnovers. Durant added seven assists and six blocked shots.

Kevin Durant had a 22-point, 17-rebound double-double, and Stephen Curry poured in 28 points for the Warriors, who were coming off a 109-108 loss at Cleveland on Christmas Day.

Durant and Curry also hit three-pointers in the flurry.

A lot of Golden State's turnovers come from trying to be too cute on offense. But so far, the issue has been overpassing.

Suns fans hope to see more of the positives at home, where their club has recorded a league-low five wins this season.
