On Tuesday, the office for West Virginia Governor Earl Ray Tomblin issued a statement confirming that Taylor has indeed been sacked, and that the Appalachian Area Agency on Aging would manage the development corporation for six months.

The director of a West Virginia nonprofit agency who took to Facebook to call first lady Michelle Obama an "ape in heels" has fired, according to state officials.

The post, which has been deleted, said, "It will be refreshing to have a classy, beautiful, dignified First Lady in the White House". "I'm exhausted of seeing a Ape in heels".

Beverly Whaling, who was Clay's mayor at the time, responded: "Just made my day Pam".

After the election in November, Taylor took to Facebook and praised the incoming first lady Melania Trump while making a disparaging comment about Michelle Obama.

The state requested specific assurances about Clay County Development Corp. officials following anti-discrimination policies, reports The Huffington Post. Taylor was initially removed as Clay Development director, but said in December she meant to return to work.

The nonprofit's functions were to be administered for the next six months by the Appalachian Area Agency on Aging while the staff is retrained.

Pamela Ramsey Taylor, former director of the Clay Country Development Corporation.

Bureau officials secured the six-month agreement between AAAOA and the corporation on December 23, which also was the day Taylor was scheduled to return to work.

"We were not happy with her suspension", Roswall told The News, adding that the CCDC did not follow anti-discrimination guidelines, which raised concerns.

Whaling eventually resigned over the comment. I am truly sorry for any hard feelings this may have caused. Those who know me know that I'm not of any way racist! The estimated population of Clay County is 8,910. More than three-quarters of the presidential votes cast in the county went to Donald Trump.
