Wenger: Patience Against Tenacious West Brom Won It For Arsenal

The Arsenal Annals Why a change of mentality is the be-all end-all

I have a big respect for him and he knows that. I would love for it to be Dimitri Payet and a piece in The Mirror gives me hope as they are reporting that Arsenal are strong favourites to land the West Ham and France star.

"I asked him, do you miss it?"

"We are not in an administration here", Wenger said. They are relentless in the way they play.

"In 20 years I had very few seasons where you start on the motorway and you finish on the motorway with no vehicle in front of you".

"You have to concentrate for as long as it takes because the top teams win so many games in the last 10 minutes".

"Like today, I knew it would be deep and that in the air could be a solution".

They were tenacious, well- organised and we needed to keep patient and not make a defensive mistake. "So I have to make the right decisions". Arsenal will start with Alexis Sanchez, Alex Iwobi, Mezut Ozil, and Olivier Giroud in attack.

The West Brom goalkeeper continued to deny the Wenger's side with a number of fine stops and the away side almost made them pay when Petr Cech dropped a corner at the feet of Claudio Yacob but thankfully for the Arsenal keeper the defender could only blaze over at the back post. "But they have a South American temper, and Spanish, so that can sometimes happen", Wenger said.

However, Wenger does not believe that it is a big issue and insists that the pair are "very close" friends off the field. It's the only reason I can think of as to why the Gunners suffer every Christmas season.

West Brom boss Pulis was left to lament the "deja vu" defeat that mirrored his side's 1-0 loss at Chelsea earlier this month.

"That's a little bit deja vu with the Chelsea game", said Pulis. "We've no complaints with that".
