Lakers to 'actively explore' trading second overall pick, according to report

After Tuesday night's NBA Draft Lottery win for the Philadelphia 76ers, the team will draft first overall in the 2016 NBA Draft.

It's been a long, LONG four-year stretch for the Philadelphia 76ers since the franchise's last playoff berth in 2011-12.

The result gives the 76ers the number one selection in June as they look to improve on last season's miserable 10-72 record. After the whole order was revealed - with the Philadelphia 76ers landing the No. 1 spot and the Los Angeles Lakers following them at No. 2 - Ainge spent several minutes in his office before walking downstairs to meet the assembled reporters.

It's no secret that the Lakers have struggled these past few seasons, though those losing years have allowed them to form a young core that includes promising players such as D'Angelo Russell, Jordan Clarkson and Julius Randle.

"We're excited with the position we are now in", said the US-born Brown, who coached multiple NBL teams as well as the Boomers at the 2012 Olympics. They need shooting and perimeter scorers and already appear set in the frontcourt with Nerlens Noel, Jahlil Okafor and Joel Embiid, so Ingram makes more sense on paper.

Even then, the Lakers have to focus on the talent and understand that by having the kind of youth that they have available there are going to be distractions and disruptions along the way.

The notion that the National Basketball Association would tilt the lottery in Philadelphia's favor feels particularly far-fetched in light of the team's multi-year "process" to be as bad as possible, in order to garner the most Ping-Pong balls and collect young talent. "We don't have to wait and see what someone else does".

"I want to let people know there was no conspiracy", Mutombo told The Associated Press in a phone interview, saying it was a mistake and that he thought "a lot of people understood the error that was made".

The 2016 National Basketball Association draft will be held on June the 23rd, 2016.
