The LED screen will also reportedly be able to display additional information such as notifications and fitness information. The newly launched "Mi Pad" is looking to shake up the tablet market to rival Apple's iPad mini with a new low-price slate set.

At the same event, Xiaomi has also rolled out a new 10000mAh Mi Power Bank, the upcoming Mi Band and a health-focused device called the new Xiaomi iHealth box.

No prizes for guessing, the mammoth Mi Max is powered by a sturdy 4,850mAh battery.

Inside, the Mi Max is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 650/652 chipset, 3GB/4GB of RAM, 32GB/64GB/128GB of built-in memory storage, and a massive 4,850 mAh battery. As for pricing, the 32GB/3GB (Snapdragon 650) model costs about $230, while the 64GB/3GB (Snapdragon 652) model comes with a price tag of about $260.

For the first flash sale of Xiaomi Mi Max, record number of people have registered. Aside from this, Xiaomi announced that the MIUI software has gained over 200 million users, which is a significant increase compared to the usage figures for the month of February, which stood at 170 million. The device will come in white, gold and grey colour variants.

The Mi Band now retails for a price of approximately $22 and can be purchased in colors of Black, Sea Green, Pink, Orange, Blue and Lemon Green.

The MIUI 8 will start with beta registrations on 16 May and will be made available on 1 June, whereas the developer ROM will be made available on 17 June.

Xiaomi is not the first mobile maker to tap the big-screen mobile segment; Huawei tried its luck in this segment earlier with the 6.8-inch P8 Max.

Details for the Global MIUI 8 launch will be available soon. In addition, the phone has major updates in the apps including Scanner, Calculator and Gallery.
